    Hi guys!
My Leicina dealer is also suggesting 7008. The price are the same but there are differences

    Leicina Special (mint): http://www.kolumbus.fi/puistot/l.htm
    Compelete kit:
    Schnieder 6-66mm
    Shoulder mount
    extra Macro-Cinegon Lens 1.8/10mm
ST-1 controller (intravlometer and remote control)
    Case

    Beaulieu 7008 Pro (used): http://www.kolumbus.fi/puistot/b.htm

    Lens Angniuex 6-90mm/1.4
    Crystal sync

the price is the same ($1500)

Which would you take? I am moving up to 16 but want to keep one Super8 cam. I bought my friend a Canon 814, which I can use for run and gun. But I need a serious Super 8 cam. Help...

    Thanx to all.

Dude! I would go with the Leicina Special. As I mentioned, I knew someone with one and it was just a truly, truly fine piece of craftsmanship. Nothing against Beaulieu at all, as I also owned an R16 at one time, but a Leicina Special is something distinctive and out of the ordinary.

All things being equal, those Leicina Specials also don't grow on trees. Therefore, if ever there comes a time that super 8 is but a footnote in cinematic history, imagine what the Leicina Special will be worth compared to the thousands of refurbished and multi-owned Beaulieus that will be floating around.

I think if you are going to keep just one super 8 camera, make it an item that will always be something special and will only get more special as the years go by. The Leicina Special is as fine a camera as was ever made for super 8 and will make a valuable collectable when shooting super 8 is no longer an option, for what ever reason.

    My two cents...

Well,...Roger convinced me! I vote for the Leicina (even though it's made in Germany, like my Nizo.)

I don't know I never used any of the two, but if you gonna pay 1500$ I've seen Leicina Special cameras going much under that on auction, but the Beaulieu 7008 w/ crystal will cost more. So I would go fore the Beaulieu. That is if money and the value is a consideration.

Hey, how noisy are these Leicena's?Just curious...
Also, how rare are these adapters to use different lenses, and how hard is it to find these "M" mounts, or whatever they are?
In other words, what would you have to do to get some good primes for it?

Crimsonson - I think you should opt for the Leicina Special - but check out prices in Germany, they are cheaper there.

I am at a lower end of the market crossroads - I am trying to decide whether to buy a mint Leicina RT1 and accessories for ?135.00 -
Anyone have any negative thoughts on this camera?
